Kitchen Volunteers Needed

Kitchen – 2024 Astra Summer Open.

It's that time of year again!

As the Summer Open, kindly sponsored by Astra Construction, approaches we would like to remind members that a lot of work goes into such an event.  Club Clean-ups, court preparation, stocking of clubhouse facilities and many other jobs are all completed in advance by club members who volunteer their precious time.  This is very much appreciated.

The club over the last number of weeks has had an amazing facelift with all the work that has been undertaken and especially with the addition of the hitting wall/boules area and court 6. We will be showcasing the club over the duration of the tournament so thanks to all our members for their hard work.

As said on many occasions these events can’t be run without the involvement of the many club members. Members involvement is an integral part of the open week.

This year we ask once again for club members to help with the running of the kitchen.

There are many slots to fill over the eight days.

This year we will have Box Pirates catering over the first weekend, Friday through to Sunday so the kitchen will only serve tea, coffee, sweets, baked goods and cold beverages. This we hope will make the kitchen duty a lot easier so no food prep will be required over the opening weekend.

We will have kitchen operating food on Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th and hope to have the BBQ operational on the Thursday and Friday giving relief to food been served in the kitchen over both days.

Please Signup HERE

Alternatively, if you unable to work the App please contact Joana and she will assign you a slot.

Mixed Doubles 1/2 combined Finalists with Noel Ronayne and Donal Lennon Tournament Organiser

Carrigaline Tennis Club Spring Open 2023

Carrigaline Tennis Club recently held its annual Spring Open Tournament, the event was sponsored by Haven Electrical.
This event is run annually and for many players it marks the beginning of their 2023 tournament season. It is always a hugely successful event for the club and this year proved to be no different, with a strong entry across all grades and superb tennis being played daily.
The Tournament ran from the 22nd March to the 1st April and welcomed players from tennis clubs across Cork City and County. Players and spectators enjoyed the ambience and great food provided by the club members daily.
Running a tournament is never easy and takes a lot of hard work and planning. Club Captain Donal Lennon did a great job in organising this event but of course as the old saying goes ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ or in this case a club. The success of the tournament would not have been possible without the members who volunteered their time and efforts to the kitchen, baking goods every day, providing cooked meals and salads, and those who were
on office duties throughout the tournament.
The tournament committee also ran two raffles with great prizes for each. The main raffle was organized by Louise Cogan and the green raffle organised by the clubs green committee which encouraged players and spectators to travel ‘Green’ to the club by car-
pooling, walking or biking. There was a great entry for both raffles.
Finals day went off without a hitch and a lovely sunny day was enjoyed by both players and spectators. It was a fitting end to a brilliant week and the club was very well represented by our own members in the finals. A special congratulations to Carrigaline Tennis Club members Mark Healy, James O'Leary, Richard Finn, Ken Molloy, Sean Murphy, Rachel O’Brien, Jordan Hughes, Louise Cogan, Sean Murphy, Padraig O’Driscoll, Chris Walsh, Karen Holmes and Shannon Ramzam.
We would like to thank all participants for helping to make the tournament the success that it was. We also wish all players the very best of luck for the rest of the tournament season and hope to see you all back in Carrigaline for our Summer Open Doubles Tournament which will take place in June.
Finally, a huge thank you to the Tournament sponsor Stephen Kiely of Haven Electrical.
