Carrigaline Tennis Club offers an extensive Coaching Program for Juniors and a range of group and one to one options for Senior Members. Note that Coaching Groups are for Juniors who just want to play in a fun environment and the squads are geared for Juniors who are keen to play at competition level. All Participants must be paid up Members of Carrigaline Tennis Club.

Coaching & Squad Schedule - September 2021 to February 2022

The Junior Coaching Programme returned on the week beginning 13th September 2021.  The term will run for 17 weeks until February 2022.

In Carrigaline Tennis Club the program is focused on overall athletic development and not just tennis specific performance. Our aim is for the Juniors to learn the sport in a fun and safe environment. The squad program is for more experienced players that are looking to progress their tennis to tournament level. All classes follow a structured plan that is outlined by the Head Coach at the start of every term.


Classes are as follows:

Tuesday (Cian)

2pm to 3pm Junior/Senior Infants

3pm to 4pm all Ages **
4pm to 6pm under 10 Squad

** this class is an ‘over-flow’ class that a child can chose to go to if the other days do not suit.  It will cater to children in classes 2nd to 6th 

Wednesday (Fitzy)    

2.30pm to 3.30pm Teen Class

3.30pm to 5pm under 8/9 Squad  

Thursday (Willie)

3pm to 4pm 1st/2nd Class

4pm to 5pm 3rd/4th Class

5pm to 6pm 5th/6th Class

6pm to 7pm Teen Class  

Friday (Gianmarco)

3.30pm to 5pm under 12 Squad 

Saturday (Philip)

4.30pm to 6.30pm Teen Squads (times to be finalised)

Head Coach Cian Blake to Co-Captain Irelands Davis Cup Team in Cyprus

Eddie Pierce, Chairperson and Alan Kelly Captain, Carrigaline Tennis Club, made a presentation recently to Cian Blake, Head Coach at the Club, to mark his appointment as Ireland’s Co-Captain for the Davis Cup Europe Event in Larnaca Cyprus from 16th to 19th June 2021. With Ireland’s Davis Cup regular captain, Conor Niland unable to travel, the honour of leading Ireland has been awarded to Ulster Performance Director Carlos Miranda and Munster Performance Director Cian Blake to travel as Co-Captains.

Cian grew up in Bishopstown and played tennis from a young age at the local club. He achieved success at Junior level and represented Munster in Interprovincial Competitions at Junior and Senior Level. He later transitioned into tennis coaching and has been head Coach at Crosshaven for some years.

He took on the role as Head Coach in Carrigaline Tennis Club in 2018 and with a strong team working with him, has made great strides in developing junior and senior coaching programmes that cater for all. In 2019 he was Tournament Director for the first International Tennis Federation event in Munster for 10 years, which was held in Carrigaline and was a major boost for the club. He has also had success in his Munster Performance Director role in recent years, captaining successful Interprovincial Teams at Junior and Senior Level.

Carrigaline Tennis Club wishes Cian every success as Co-Captain in the Davis Cup event in Cyprus andwe look forward to his continuing success in his roles with Carrigaline and Munster Tennis.

Junior Coaching Covid Regulations - Reminder

With Junior Coaching started back this week the Committee would like to remind Parents of the Junior Coaching Covid Regulations.
  • If you have been out of the country please refrain from using the Club for 14 days. 
  • If you have any Covid symptoms please do not attend Coaching. 
  • Please drop and collect your child. Waiting around Club Grounds is strictly prohibited. 
  • Access to the Clubhouse is strictly prohibited. Please use Toilet Facilities before your session. 
  • If your Child shows any signs of symptoms during the session you will be contacted to collect your Child immediately by the Coach. 

Tennis Camps 2021

Tennis Camps will run for two weeks during the Summer on the following dates -  
Week 1 -   5thJuly 2021 to  9th July 2021 
Week 2 - 19th July 2021 to 23rd July 2021
TIME - 9.30am to 12noon
COST - €75 per person with €5 reduction (€70) for subsequent siblings.

Cian has vast coaching experience at all levels of the game from social to international players. He has captained Ireland at Winter Cups and Four Nations, captaining the winning Four Nations team in 2018. 

Having been an interprovincial player at junior and senior level, Cian takes great pride in representing his province. Along with winning the title as a player Cian has also captained Munster to glory at Junior and Senior levels. As well as success in team events Cian has coached players individually to International Level with some of his players representing Ireland at European Championships, Winter Cups and Four Nations 

Cian's belief is that competition drives the sport. He feels that having a proper competition structure is paramount to the success of any programme. With this in mind Cian has placed a major emphasis on Matchplay and Box Leagues within the club.

Sinead Dunne

Munster Performance Coach

Sinead has coached numerous provincial and national tennis players to great success over her years as a tennis coach. A former Munster interprovincial player, she was the winning non-playing Junior Captain in 2017 as well as the winning non-playing Senior Interprovincial Captain in 2018.

Sinead coaches junior squads every Monday as well as giving group lessons for senior members. She is also available for individual lessons.

Paul Fitzgerald

Tennis Ireland Level 1 qualified coach

Having competed at the highest level nationally, represented Ireland, and gone on to compete at college level in the United States, Paul brings a huge amount of playing experience to the coaching team. Along with his playing experience Paul has captained Munster at interprovincial level, is coach to provincial and national level players and is part of the Munster coaching team.

Gianmarco Cacace

Gianmarco has recently joined the Munster Tennis Coaching Team.
Below Gianmarco give an insight into his career both as a Coach and as a Professional Player.

'I am a Tennis coach with more than 5 years of experience, focused on Junior and Senior players.

During the last years I had the opportunity to train athletes from all international rankings - ATP, ITF, TE, following them in their educational and professional path across tournaments of international significance. 

I had the chance to learn and leverage the coaching methodologies of IMG Academy driven by Nick Bollettieri in Florida. I have been selected by the captain of the Italian national FED CUP team as Assistant Coach and sparring for two events in Swiss and Russia. 

During my career I played many ITF Junior international tournaments, collecting 4 finals (Abu Dhabi, Marocco, Denmark, Egypt), ranking 287, and ATP futures tournaments ranking 1280. I also had the opportunity to play on the same team with Daniel Gimeno Traver 48 ATP, Nicolas Almagro 9 ATP, Marius Copil 56 ATP, Thomas Fabbiano 70 ATP, Matwe Middelkoop 30 ATP DOUBLES, playing double with each of them.' 

Ashling O'Sullivan - Junior Coach

Ashling has been coaching in Carrigaline since 2015. She began as part of the Gaisce bronze Presidents award and when she turned 16 she completed the Play And Stay assistant tennis coaching course.
She began playing tennis in primary school through Cork Parks Tennis prior to joining Carrigaline Tennis Club. She has played in the Wilson and KBS tournaments.
Ashling is an assistant coach at the Club on Thursdays and Fridays and on Saturday she runs the Junior Matchplay along with Ken, Claire and Laoise from 3-4:30pm.

Claire O'Sullivan - Junior Coach

Claire has been playing tennis in Carrigaline Tennis Club since she was 10. She has played in both the Wilson cup and KBS teams. 
Claire has been a Junior Coach since 2018 and helps with the Saturday matchplay every week.
