President of Tennis Ireland, Shane Cooke recently presented the Gold Clubmark to our Chairperson Eddie Pierce.

Eddie Ronayne, (President of Munster Tennis) Liz Clifford, (Regional Development Officer) Cian Blake (Performance Director for Munster Tennis) also attended the ceremony.

Tennis Ireland Clubmark is the National Governing Bodies Club Accreditation Programme which is awarded at three levels (Gold, Silver and Bronze).

The programme aims to identify, develop, accredit and recognise high quality tennis clubs and their contribution to the development of tennis in the areas of: areas: Facilities, Organisation & Management, Safety & Child Welfare, Play, Scoring & Competition, Player Development, Workforce, Outreach Programmes, Communication & PR and Equality.

In short, achieving the Gold Clubmark accreditation signals that Carrigaline Tennis Club provides a quality sporting experience open to all and delivered in a safe friendly environment, managed by an effective and competent committee.

Carrigaline Tennis Club is one of the few tennis clubs within Ireland to achieve this impressive status.

The Clubmark committee have done trojan work to achieve this award. Maria O’Reilly,   Alan Kelly and Eddie Pierce have to be commended for their huge efforts in attaining same. Thank you too must go out to Frank O’Sullivan, (Children’s Officer) along with Cian Blake, (Club Head Coach) who supplied a lot of the detail which was necessary to meet the requirements for Tennis Ireland Clubmark National Governing Body.

Last but not least, a big thanks to our individual members, both past and present, whose enthusiasm for the club continues to make our club such a safe, friendly and welcoming place to visit and play.

The Gold Plaque will be on display in the Clubhouse.
