About us

Gianmarco has recently joined the Munster Tennis Coaching Team.
Below Gianmarco give an insight into his career both as a Coach and as a Professional Player.

'I am a Tennis coach with more than 5 years of experience, focused on Junior and Senior players.

During the last years I had the opportunity to train athletes from all international rankings - ATP, ITF, TE, following them in their educational and professional path across tournaments of international significance.

I had the chance to learn and leverage the coaching methodologies of IMG Academy driven by Nick Bollettieri in Florida. I have been selected by the captain of the Italian national FED CUP team as Assistant Coach and sparring for two events in Swiss and Russia.

During my career I played many ITF Junior international tournaments, collecting 4 finals (Abu Dhabi, Marocco, Denmark, Egypt), ranking 287, and ATP futures tournaments ranking 1280. I also had the opportunity to play on the same team with Daniel Gimeno Traver 48 ATP, Nicolas Almagro 9 ATP, Marius Copil 56 ATP, Thomas Fabbiano 70 ATP, Matwe Middelkoop 30 ATP DOUBLES, playing double with each of them.'

About us

Hi All,
I hope you are all keeping safe and well! You may have seen a few communications about finally getting back to play some Tennis, so we wanted to highlight some of the main changes that will be relevant to our Juniors:

  • Anyone using our courts from next Monday MUST have a court booked. As it will be singles initially (unless you have 4 people from the same household) then all names must appear on the booking slot. This will be for contract tracing purposes.
  • In order to help facilitate this, adult non members who wish to be able to book for their children as junior members will now be able to do so. Once you have renewed your membership, the club will be in touch with the procedure for how you can register for the ebooking system and attach your own (parent) email to that account.
  • If you have already renewed as a family, then the club will be in touch with user ID numbers for all the children in that membership group to allow you to book under their own individual names.
  • The guidelines issued by Tennis Ireland last week now suggest it is OK for one parent to supervise while their child is playing on court. In this event, we will NOT need to implement the volunteer list, but parents must ensure to keep social distance. When supervising your child who is playing, no other children from that family are allowed on the premises to avoid younger children running around and touching various surfaces, and therefore increasing the risk to everyone.
  • In this first phase of re-opening, only people within a 5KM radius of the club should be using courts.
  • The clubhouse will be closed and there will be no access to toilets in the immediate future so for this reason, we will be limiting the courts so that you cannot book more than one consecutive hour. You can if you wish come down for a second one hour slot in the same day.
  • Juniors will have to each have their own set of balls with their name on them. They will use their own balls when serving and if you need to pass back a ball to your opponent, you can do so by kicking it back or flicking it with the racket.
  • All players will have to sanitise their hands on entering the courts and again on leaving. The club is in the process of getting these installed and ready in time for re-opening. It is also advised in the guidelines that each player carry their own small sanitiser in their bags.
  • There is to be no hanging around for talking, you have to come, wait for the court to become free (if people are on before you), play and then leave. This is unfortunate as it takes the social element away to some degree but is required to reduce social contact.
  • We will be able to offer coaching for our juniors upon re-opening but this will only be on a one to one basis, unless there are people from the same household. Court 5 will be reserved for coaching Mon to Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday morning 9 to 1pm. A separate email will be issued specific to coaching.
The club is conscious that there is a lot of emails coming from various committees at present, but it is vital that we get the message out there to re-open properly and safely for all our members. Things are also changing on an ongoing basis in the current climate and so we may have to update you with these changes, so please bear with us in the coming weeks.
If there are any questions or concerns on any of the above, please email carrigalinetennisjuniornews@gmail.com and we will endeavour to answer them in a timely manner.
