In the meantime, please keep an eye on your email for details on ‘Hitting Practice’ taking place on selected Thursday nights during the Summer period.
Cork Regional Leagues 2018
The Selection Committee have picked the following teams to compete in the Cork Regional League for 2018.
Grade 1: Arthur & Kasha (captain)
Grade 2: Martin & Louise
Grade 3: Jack & Mary
Grade 4: Mark & Val Cremin
Grade 5: Karl & Cheryl (captain)
Grade 6: Jim & Siobhan Crowley
There are two competitions in the Cork Regional League – A & B. The A competition consists of three mixed pairs from Grades 1,2 & 3. The B competition consists of three mixed pairs from Grades 4,5 & 6. You do not get points for playing.
Each team usually has 3 matches in the round robin stage, and after that a quarter, semi and final on a knock out basis.
If you wish to be considered for a team in the Cork Regional League please forward your name, grade and mobile number to firstname.lastname@example.org before February 23rd at 8pm. You will receive a reply to let you know your entry has been accepted.
The Club can enter up to two teams in each category, but Munster Tennis will only guarantee one team being accepted into the competition depending on numbers entered.
At the moment if we want to enter two teams we specifically need grade 2 men, grade 3 men and ladies, grade 4 men and ladies, grade 5 men and grade 6 ladies

The Annual General Meeting of Carrigaline Tennis Club will take place on Monday 20th November 2017 at 8.00pm in the Heron Room of Carrigaline Court Hotel.
Nominations for Committee and Notice of Motions should be forwarded to the Secretary, Alan Cogan.

Note from your Chairperson
The club‘s Annual General Meeting will take place on November 19th 2017. For anybody wishing to get involved in the committee , nomination forms will be available in the club or here on the website in the next couple of days.
Fiona has decided to step down as Club Captain. I’d like to thank her for the last two years, where she first served as Vice-captain before taking over as Club Captain last year. A big thanks and well done from all on the committee.
With Fiona stepping down, we have vacancies for Captain and Vice-captain. The other officers; chairperson, secretary and treasurer are all happy to serve for another term, but people are free to seek election for any position. Many of the other members of the committee are also willing to stay on, but we’re always looking for help, so anybody who’d like to get involved, please let us know.
One thing that I would like to discuss at the AGM is setting up a kitchen committee to run the Opens. Mary Malone has played a starring role over the last 2 years, but is stepping down next year. Mary has down Trojan work over the last 2 years and deserves a huge thanks from everybody. Well done Mary!!
To run the kitchen for the open is a big task and really should be run by a team or committee, to share the workload. I know a lot of people help for the Opens, but we need to formalise it. I will include this as agenda item at the AGM.

Club Night has resumed on Thursday Nights. Please be at the club at 7.45pm sharp. Cost is €3.
For those who haven’t played before it’s a blitz format, where you play 4 x 15 minute games. Again great fun guaranteed.
The Committee are looking for volunteers to join the rota to run Club night. Five of last year’s crew are staying on, ideally we’d like three to five more volunteers so that each pair would be on one week in four or five. It’s easy to learn how to run the blitz and you can play on the night as well, so please step up if interested. Please contact Anne O’Hea on 086 3549771 if you can get involved.

Tommy Jackson Cup 2017
Carrigaline won the Tommy Jackson Cup on Saturday 14th October 2017. This is an annual team event versus Crosshaven Tennis Club.
The Club sent two men and two ladies in Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 – twenty players in total. The event was run for the first time last year and all those who took part thoroughly enjoyed this one day team challenge between the two clubs.
The Club have put an extra 300 tokens into circulation recently. The Committee asks Members not to buy tokens in bulk and limit purchases to a maximum of 4 at any one time. Both Tokens and Tennis Balls will be available for sale at Club Night from now on.
